The Montessori approach
to educate emphasizes
the development of the
individual child within the
social setting of the group.
With gentle guidance from
the teacher, the child is
allowed to develop at his
or her own pace and to
cultivate a natural love
of learning in a
non-competitive
environment.

Our History
In April 2000 , a group of interested
parents began work to create a non-profit, non-denominational, independent
private Montessori preschool in Fredericksburg. In September of that same year,
the Childrens House of Old Town opened its doors in rented facilities at 312
Sohpia Street. An extended day kindergarten was added in September 2001.
The school is governed by a Board of
Directors, with all school parents considered as co-owners. Driven by the needs
of the children and supported by hours of time and dedication, the school has
proven to not only be a tremendous success, but a great addition to the
community.
